张新军今年不到23岁，出生在户县的一个普通农家，初中毕业没考上高中，在西安国际高尔夫球俱乐部当保安，后来从保安到球童，张新军也逐步接触上了这项运动。当上球员，或许就能改变命运。“那时练球完全是为了生存。”张新军毫不讳言自己当时打球的初衷。

真正的转折点出现在2004年10月份，陕西省高协到西安国际高尔夫球俱乐部选苗子，当时还不到17岁的张新军被陕西省高协副秘书长丁杰看中，才真正开始自己的高尔夫球人生。“选拔时，张新军成绩并不是很突出，但从几次集训看，这小孩爱动脑子。”

接下来，陕西省高协支持张新军等球员参加了业余巡回赛，他夺得2007~2008年职业联赛配对赛的第一名，开始在业内小有名气。这个时候国家队开始选拔运动员，成绩突出的张新军入选国家队，成为西部地区唯一的国手。

Today August 8 is the 3rd anniversary day of Club 808. In 2008, three years ago, on this exact date — Aug 8, 12 players who didn’t know each other well before played a round of causal game at Mt Si Golf Course. Shortly after, a club was formed and rest was history…….

On behalf of the management team, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate to our beloved young club, to every member for your participation and your support since day one, to the effort you have put in to build this club into a respectable platform for all of us to enjoy the game of golf and promote friendship. Thanks to all current and past management teams and all volunteers who have done so much for the success of this young club!

Let us continue to work hard together and make this club an even better place for all of members to enjoy for years to come…..

Chen Shuo is named VP, Operations to assume the responsibility vacant by Alan Jia who has moved to China to join a golf business venture started by some members of club 808.
